Towards the Perfect Black and White Print
Ford Cottage is ideally situated in the heart of the English Lake District. It is almost exactly half way between Windermere and Coniston Water at the southern end of both lakes. Perfect to explore your vision and the tradition of the “Romantic Landscape”.
Steven is an experienced teacher (see the resume). He has an extensive knowledge of technical, aesthetic and historical issues around photography. His darkroom is equipped to process and print negatives from 35mm to 5x4 on paper up to 20x16.
You can tap into Steven’s knowledge and make use of the facility by arranging a workshop at Ford Cottage. The sessions are designed for 1 person or you can come with a friend and split the cost. Steven will take you to some of the most interesting spots in the Lakes, he will help you to make the best possible negatives using his simplified zone system and show you how to print to exhibition quality. He will demonstrate the techniques required to make prints that are of archival standard.
Steven invites you to bring your own film cameras in any format from 35mm to 5x4, this workshop is not about digital techniques. You will need to supply your own film (a plentiful amount) but all paper and chemicals are included in the workshop fee. You can book Steven for one day, 10am to 7 pm, or extra days up to a week. Steven will suggest accommodation according to your requirements. Accommodation is not included in the workshop fee.
